Nintendo's former President dies at 85

It is reported that Nintendo’s third president Hiroshi Yamauchi died this morning at the age of 85.

Yamauchi died of pneumonia at a hospital in central Japan and a funeral will take place on Sunday. A spokesman for Nintendo said that the firm was in mourning over the loss of the former Nintendo president Mr Hiroshi Yamauchi,.

Joining the company in 1949 until stepping down on May 31, 2002, to be succeeded by Satoru Iwata, Yamauchi is credited with transforming Nintendo from a small hanafuda card-making company in Japan to a multi-billion dollar video game company.

He brought us all the great systems we love and play to date and will be missed.

A brand new 3DS XL Bundle...will it come to North America?

Recently Nintendo announced a special 3DS that was due to be released July 18th in Japan. This bundle was none other then a 30th Anniversary of Luigi bundle which had a very cool 3DS XL covered in Luigi characters.

Will we get to see this cool bundle in North America? I sure hope so.

Another set of cool bundles coming up are the upcoming Pokemon X and Pokemon Y 3DS XL bundles where one 3DS is blue with Pokemon pics and the other red. Unfortunately they do not come bundled with the game and are available September 27th .

I'm sure they will go fast at $229.99, as the game comes out October 12th.

Other cool bundles to hit this year that you may have missed were an animal crossing new leaf bundle with cool designs and a download of the game, and a yellow Pikachu 3DS XL.

What other cool designs will we see from Nintendo? We'll have to wait and see.

By: Josh Chourney

Watch it in all of it's 1080p glory; the single player campaign trailer is revealed for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The tenth main instalment to the COD series which is slated for release on November 15, 2013 (NA) and November 29, 2013 (EU).

Looks like size does matter, well when it comes to 'Grand Theft Auto V'

By: Josh Chourney

It would seem a number of images are showing up on Reddit.com (/r/GrandTheftAutoV) claiming to be official maps from a BradyGames Strategy Guide for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V.  If these images are correct, Rockstar's latest game world is set to dwarf any of their previous creations.

New biomes, flowers and fishies in Minecraft 1.7

By: James Bowler

Well Minecraftians, the 1.7 beta version is out as of last week and it's already featuring some sweet new stuff.

No it's not as awesome as horses that you can ride and breed, but there are some pretty neat upgrades and additions.

A new fishing system now allows you to monitor your fishing situation a little better.

Now, when you fish, ripples will appear around your bobber when a fish is about to bite.

On top of this there are new fish like clown fish, blow-fish and salmon. But unfortunately we still don't get to see them swimming around so no gigantic aquariums just yet fish-heads.

The new fishing update allows for special items like enchantment books and other treasures to be caught while fishing.

And if you enjoy being underwater there are new potions that allow you to stay underwater without needing to breathe for up to six minutes.

Also new in the world are a large array of pretty flowers to procure your various coloured dyes. You can now find dandelions, poppies, roses and yes, even sunflowers!

As well the grass now grows double in height.

The most exciting thing is new fancy biomes....YAY!

New biomes include:

- Mesa, which is sort of a badlands type of setting with different coloured clay (which means no more aqua-affinity or trying to mine underwater)

- Sunflower Plains which is basically filled with a freaking ton of sunflowers

- Roofed Forest with giant Punch wood trees and huge mushrooms, sort of a canopy-type setting of leaves (no more getting caught in bunches of stupid leaves while running from creepers!)

- Savanna, with Acacia trees which are actually just Jungle wood trees with oak leaves and you do get Jungle wood from them (does this mean Lions? Giraffes? Elephants soon??)

- Birch Forest, which is essentially a TON of Birch Trees...not very exciting

- Swampland Hills, which is basically swampland with very small hills

- Snowless Taiga, which is basically the snow biome with no snow, same darker trees and wood colours

- Ice Plains, which I think is one of the most interesting with various ice spikes jutting out of the ground, makes for treacherous climbing but an interesting and sometimes beautiful view

- Deep Ocean, which has, yes you guessed it, deep oceans. So if you do have one of those water potions you might be able to swim to the bottom and check out what's there (mostly just gravel and squiddies)

- Mega Taiga, which features some Redwood-esq trees, I mean some really, really, REALLY tall trees, you are going to need a pile of dirt to get to the top of one of these and cut it down. Good news is you don't have to spend as much time cutting down multiple little trees

This last biome also features some mulch-covered dirt called Podzol which can only be collected with a silk-touch shovel that allows you to grow giant mushrooms on it.

There is also a large supply of Moss Stone (formerly known as Mossy Cobble which could only be collected from spawners).

So what do you think Minecraft players? Is this not epic? This may be setting the world up for some new animals as well, there certainly seems to be a lot more space for them now.

Pokémon card valued at $100,000

By: James Bowler

Have you got an extra one hundred grand kicking around collecting dust?

Well if so you could be the lucky owner of a new Pokemon 'Pikachu Illustrator' card from the original Japanese card game.

Geek.com reported the sale of the card on eBay from the Pokémon TCG Blog, which is sitting at a valued 'Buy It Now' price of $100,000 but those who want to try their luck can try a lower offer.

Although the seller is looking for at least $50,000.

So why is this card even more expensive than the Black Lotus from the MTG craze?

Well considering first of all there are only six in existence since its printing in 1998 coupled with the fact that basically no one else is selling theirs anytime soon, you can understand why this buyer is asking so much.

Maybe he's just looking to you know do something useful like put money down on a mortgage?

Who am I kidding, he's going to bid on something else worth even more I'm sure!

Check out the listing here.

Robot Turtles: The Game to Teach Kids to Code

By: Britt Turkington

Ever tried to sit down in front of a computer with a 3 year old to teach them programming? Sounds ridiculous, right? I can see the mess of Cheerios in the keyboard now. But what if you had a game that would not only give your family hours of fun, but also teach your child to code without them even knowing?

'Robot Turtles' is a board game created by father and entrepreneur Dan Shapiro for kids ages 3 - 8 to learn the fundamentals of computer programming without even needing a computer. And what's more, they don't even need to know how to read to play.

The beauty of the game is that only one person, the 'Turtle Mover', needs to read the rules to play. This means the kids can get right to what they do best. Playing.

So how does it work? After each child, or 'Turtle Master', picks their favorite turtle character, the adult, or 'Turtle Mover', makes a maze on the board with a jewel at the end. The children then need to find their way through the maze by playing a series of instructional cards. The object of the game, of course, is to make it through the maze to get the jewel.

The game allows the children to learn the basics of skills such as order of operations, planning a program, debugging, and much more. There are even 'unlockables' for when the basic game becomes too, well, basic, allowing the game to grow as they do.

Shaprio is now on Kickstarter to raise funding to produce a minimum run of 'Robot Turtles' -  he now has over 2,000 pledging over $100,000 to help make this a reality! Currently the game is being offered to backers for a special price of $29 and is due to ship in December,
