Will Smith to welcome aliens back to Earth?

By: James Bowler

Will Smith might actually be welcoming more aliens to earth in his special heartfelt way of punching them directly in their armor-plated faces, in the long-awaited, next installment of Independence Day 2.

Roland Emmerich recently reported, in an interview with Digital Spy, that he has scheduled an interview with Smith to return to the film:

"I sometimes say no, Will Smith will not be in it because he didn't want to do it at first. Now we have a meeting planned, we want to talk about it again. Anything can happen."

It was reported earlier in the year the film might surround the story of the younger generation of survivors struggling to rebuild earth with Pullman and now possibly Smith having smaller roles in the story, while a large armada of aliens approaches earth for round 2.

Emmerich reported that the film would be a cliffhanger broken into two parts which would give us ID4:2 and ID4:3.

The sequel is set to hit theaters July 3, 2015, as part of the mega amount of releases coming out.

What do you think, should Smith return to the film, and if so would he do better with a smaller background role or the main focus of the film again?
