Have We Seen The End of Pepper Potts in Marvel Movies?

The character of Pepper Potts (played by Gwyneth Paltrow) had a rather slow beginning in 2008's Iron Man - she was a strong personality and a decision maker in the movie, she was still in the 'damsel in distress role'. The character concept didn't change much in the second installment, 2010's Iron Man 2.


While she made a brief and rather comical appearance in 2012's The Avengers, it wasn't until 2013's Iron Man 3 that Potts put on her ass kicking shoes. WARNING: Iron Man 3 SPOILERS AHEAD.

In the middle of Iron Man 3, the Mandarin attacks Tony Stark's house with Stark and Potts still inside - Pepper ends up wearing the new automated armor Tony had been working on (for those of you familiar with the comic books, you'll know that Potts had her own armor and was known as Rescue). Near the end of the movie, she was infected with the Extremis virus and had seemingly perished in a fall at the shipping yard. Because of the Extremis, she survived and laid down an ass kicking, saving Tony and saving the day.

But could that be the end of Pepper Potts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Gwyneth Paltrow recently spoke with HITFIX and said she hasn't got a phone call from Marvel yet.





I don't know about anyone else, but I'd love to see more of tough chick Potts in the MCU. And maybe now that Paltrow knows the name of the next Avengers movie she'll be getting a call.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron will hit theatres on May 1st, 2015.
