Palpatine and Obi Wan rumored to reappear as Force Ghosts

By: James Bowler

And cue the ridiculous Star Wars Episode 7 rumors.

First off, is Oren Peli on the writing staff? There is literally a rumor that Force Ghosts will make up a major part of the human battle in the new Star Wars installment.

I’m sorry I thought this was Star Wars not the last bit of Lord of the Rings.

If this is legit I just can see some a big panel of execs saying ‘How can we bring every popular character back if they’re all supposed to be dead? Oh I know, bring them all back as ghosts!’

First of Emperor Palpatine a.k.a Darth Sidious, according to Lation Review (who have actually been on the ball for Star Wars rumors lately), is going to be back but not in clone form like in the comics.

He will be presented as a Force Ghost.

Yes, back to my original Oren Peli quip, this isn’t actually Star Wars but Paranormal Activity 5.

I’m going to go out on a very tentative limb here, but I’m pretty sure Palpy was not really an overall popular character. I mean yeah, we recognized him and it was cool when he did that change from human to Sith form, but is he really someone we DESPERATELY need back?

Are people going to honestly avoid the film if Palpy isn’t in it?

Probably not; begin trolling now (you know who you are).

Now Latino Review is reporting that Ewan McGregor will return as the Force Ghost of Obi Wan Kenobi…WHAT?

This has gone from the realm of okay that’s a little far-fetched to this is just plain silliness.

This news makes me start to wonder about the full credibility of Latino Review. I mean yeah they had some
solid leads with the first bits of news for Star Wars but I think they’re just reaching now.

How could it ever make any possible sense that the Ewan McGregor version of Obi Wan suddenly returns in all his younger glory when Alec Guiness was the last to appear as a Force Ghost in the final film.

Even if McGregor shows up with a Guiness-esque make-up job it’s still going to look ridiculous, because he’s not Alec Guiness.

The whole reason McGregor played Obi Wan was because he was younger.

Are we going to call Hayden Christensen back too, like the silly reshuffle that George Lucas did when he rereleased the final film? Or maybe Darth Vader will come back as a Force Ghost even though last time we saw him he died as Anakin once again.

If these rumors turn out to be true I’m STILL going to see Star Wars Episode 7, but I don’t have to like it! (Even though I probably still will).
