Pokemon special pulls directly from Red and Green games

By: James Bowler

Alright Pokemon fans, I know you’re out there, hiding in your jobs, your parenthoods, your parents basement.

Do I have some fantastic news for you.

Remember how the series Pokemon never seems to jive with the games, for example where the hell is Ash Ketchum in the games?

Alright so I’m admitting that I’m a Pokemon fan too, been playing since it first came out on the original black and white Gameboy, Red and Green baby (yes I am that old and sad).

And now all of you other Red and Green fans can rejoice and have multiple nerdgasms until the entire world is filled with the sounds of nerds...erm...yeah.

Anyways, ‘Pokemon: The Origin’ hits the small screen later this year.

The trailer for the new series was premiered during Pokemon Game Show in Japan (yes it’s that popular in Japan), and despite the fact that I speak no Japanese whatsoever, I am gathering from the trailer that this series will take a more serious look at the Pokemon world, rather than the happy-go-lucky, feel good moments of the regular Pokemon series.

I wouldn’t go as far as saying its taking a ‘darker tone’ but it definitely looks a little more majestic.

The sad thing is this is only a special premiere, not a planned series, and I have no idea when it will be redubbed in English, but Professor Oak appears to be in it.

But Under the Dome, which was based on one book, apparently has a second season coming when it was only supposed to be a min-series, so you know stranger things have happened.

Either way you should definitely check this thing when it comes out. For hardcore Japanimation fans who for some reason learned Japanese strictly to watch these anime in their original language (you know who you are), this special comes out October 2.

Everyone else sit on your hands and try to figure out what’s going on in the trailer.

We’ll keep you updated on when the English version makes its way across the pond.
