Chris Evans: Science Nerd, Alaska dreamer, and hopeful director

By: Stephanie Meleady

Much to the delight of his fans, actor Chris Evans announced that he would be hosting his first video question and answer session today.

Completely informal and done without the intent of promoting anything, it gave his fans the chance to ask him questions about anything, ranging from his top three movies that he thinks everyone should see, to his inspiration for his upcoming directorial debut 1:30 Train.

Check out the interview below:

If you can't watch the video, here are some of the highlights:
  • Evans says his favourite movie he's ever worked on was the first Fantastic Four. It was the first large scale movie he'd ever done and it taught him a lot about big budget films. He said it “felt like going to summer camp!”
  • If he were to leave acting and take up any other career, he says he would want to be a director. And if he couldn't be a director, he'd want to get into the arts...specifically animation.
  • Favourite Disney movie is The Fox and the Hound.
  • He would pay to see Sam Rockwell in any movie.
  • Favourite place in the world is Massachusetts, and he says going home keeps him grounded.
  • He loves  Edgar Wright (his director in Scott Pilgrim Vs the World) and can't wait to see The World's End.
  • Finds inspiration in a quote by Eckhart Tolle, “When you lose touch with your inner stillness, you lose touch with yourself. When you lose touch with yourself, you lose yourself in the world.” He even has it tattooed on his body.
  • He is currently reading The Honeymoon Effect by Bruce Lipton.
  • Got into acting in around the 6th or 7th grade like his older sister because he was jealous she was given candy and got to stay out on school nights.
  • The top three movies he believes everyone should see are Legends of the Fall, I Heart Huckabees and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. And Groundhog Day, just because.
  • The number one item on his bucket list is to visit Alaska.
  • His favourite subject in school was Earth science.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theatres in North American on Apr 4, 2014.
