Another ass kicking actor has joined the cast of Fast & Furious 7, currently fast-tracked at Universal and preparing to shoot later this year under the direction of James Wan (who also directed this year's horror films The Conjuring and Insidious: Chapter 2). THR is reporting that Thai martial arts actorTony Jaa, who starred in the Ong Bak series of films, is the latest to join the cast of Fast & Furious 7. His exact role is unknown as the "script is still being being written by longtime franchise player Chris Morgan" and plot specifics are being kept a secret. Though we know Jason Statham is being carried over from the last one.
At the moment, here's what we do know about Fast & Furious 7. James Wan is directing the sequel which is already scheduled for July 11th, 2014 next summer (to follow the global success of Fast & Furious 6 this summer). Lead actors Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson will be back, as they have been for the last few movies. Tony Jaa is the latest to join the cast, which will grow as they continue preparations. Jaa stated via email: "I have been a big fan of theFast and Furious franchise... The films are fast-paced, fun and keep the audience involved. There is agreat mix of humor and action, something I really appreciate. There is no better film to be involved in for a first U.S. studio production."
