Marvel's Kevin Feige speculates on Disney/Marvel Phase 3

By: James Bowler

Speaking with Empire Magazine this week, President of Marvel Kevin Feige answered some questions on the already widely speculated on Phase 3 of the Disney/Marvel partnership.

In the interview Feige pointed to the fact that there are a number of projects on the go, but with limited slots available in Phase 3:

There are three or four slots. We’ve got six or seven things going. We’ve got to choose which four will go. It’s a Battle Royale!

So what does this mean for us Marvel fans? Well the possibility of Ant-Man and Dr. Strange have been rumored to be part of the Phase 3 production.

However despite earlier reports that Ant-Man and Dr. Strange would kick off Phase 3, Feige has stated now that there are no officials plans in place yet for any of the projects release dates:

Next spring is when we really sit down and start to decide what we announce for 2016 and 2017.

However if Ant-Man and Dr. Strange do end up moving forward what could be filling the other two slots? Avengers 3 perhaps? Or the widely speculated on Hulk sequel with Mark Ruffalo. Many are hoping for a Planet Hulk scenario.

And Feige has said they are interested in working with Ruffalo further as the Hulk.

I think we have something special with our Mark Ruffalo Banner, and we’d love to see where we could take his stories.

And say those are the four projects currently being worked on right now, Feige has stated there are six to seven in total. So what could the other two or three be? Maybe a sequel to the yet unreleased Guardians of the Galaxy?

It seems we will have to wait until next Spring or later to hear what Marvel and Disney have plans for next in their cinematic universe, and especially how it will all tie in together.
