The Amazing Spider-Man 2 production finished filming a few weeks ago, but everyday new information is being released about the sequel. Many fans believe the second movie in the new franchise is moving too quickly for their liking, but why?
When Amazing Spider-Man 2 was announced the only villain we were sure would be making his big screen debut was Electro, who will be portrayed by Jamie Foxx, but are they adding too many faces to soon?
First off, lets talk about Electros suit for a minute. Fans have taken to social media to express happiness that they didn't go with the classic yellow and green suit. Many people on twitter and other social media websites said it would have looked too cartoon-y and wouldn't be taken very seriously. It looks like the suit will be made out of Oscorp materials, a black, with shades of blue leather like suit. Electro himself will be icy blue, with lightning shaped veins. In this film Electro will be able to move through electricity, almost like the speed of light. This will make him A much stronger foe for our favorite web crawler.
Now onto the main point.
As production days went on, we found out many familiar faces were going to be coming to the big screen in the reboot. Dane Dehaan is cast to play Harry Osborn, Peter Parker's best friend. Shailene Woodley was cast to play the role of Mary Jane Watson, which caused a lot of controversy among fans. Woodley filmed her scenes, but fans were not happy with the casting choice because they didn't think she was "hot" enough for the role. Fans on twitter tweeted their displeasure in hope they would change their decision. Emma Stone will be reappearing for her role as Gwen Stacey.
With only a few days left in filming Woodley and MJ were cut from the film. Many fans speculate that she will be recast.
Along side Electro, Paul Giamatti will be playing the role of Aleksei Sytsevich, aka "Rhino." Fans wondered at first how Sony would go about with the Rhino costume but most of those questions have been answered. The Rhino suit will be made of materials from Oscorp and will be part of his body. The suit will almost be a metal mechanical version rather than a cross-species or regular suit. A photo of Giamatti shows him wearing some sort of armor, which will later of course have added CGI effects to give the Rhino look.
Chris Cooper will be playing the role of Norman Osborn. Cooper is an odd choice because of his age, but in this film Osborn is on his death bed. Rumors were speculating that Cooper would be making an appearance as the famous Green Goblin, but now we know that may not be the case. Felicity Jones will be playing a role in the film, and when asked about which part she will play by "View London" she said she will be playing the goblins girlfriend.
Now, Jones is much younger than Chris Cooper, which would make it strange for her to be Norman Osborn's girlfriend, which leads us to believe Dane Dehaan, aka Harry Osborn will actually play the role of Goblin. Both ComicBookMovie and Movieweb have leaked out what appears to be the details to what the goblins costume is going to look like.

Many people say they can't see Chris Cooper looking like anything but "kind of lame like that." According to most social media websites, fans are in strong disagreement with Cooper taking the roll if he's going to look like that. This leads to more speculation that Dehaan will play the role. Spidey fans are left asking if it's possible we can get a mutated goblin, much like the Lizard was in the first film but until the movie comes out we won't know for sure.
Going back to Jones, does this mean that she may also play the role of The Menace or another famous comic character? She may have let the cat out of the bag during that same interview when she was asked if she was excited for everyone to see her as the famous "Black Cat." Jones seemed to be caught off guard by the question and replied with
"Um, well, uh, possibly, I don't know, yeah, I kind of, it's um, yeah if that happens that would be wonderful yes."
So With Electro and Rhino already slated for the movie, we have three huge names, Black Cat or Menace and the Green Goblin that could be making an appearance in the film. Not only that but a few days ago a huge rumor was leaked that Jim Carrey was going to be making a cameo, playing the part of Cletus Kasady, who we all know as the famous "Carnage." A photo of Carrey was taken which was reportedly on set, or just outside the set of the Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Whether it's Carrey or another actor, it's pretty safe to say we will see some kind of Kasady cameo as Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane is in the film. It could be that Kasady is locked up.
There were rumors that Colm Feore would be playing the Vulture, which are still unconfirmed, but if it's true this could be the reason why Woodley was cut from the film. Marc Webb said there was just too many characters and didn't want the movie to be cluttered, but we'll have to wait and see.
Webb was asked on twitter if he was expanding the Spider-Man universe, to which he replied "Think Bigger."
Webb confirmed that there will be a Spider-Man 3 & 4 which already have set release dates which by now, most people have put the pieces together that the direction this Spider-Man franchise is taking will lead into the Sinister 6.
Is all of this too much for one movie? Will fans be able to handle this much this fast? or do you think the sequel will be rushed and clustered? With the potential of 2 major villains, and 1 secondary, plus maybe one or two more big characters making four to six big time characters for the franchise in this movie alone, is it too much?
Another important aspect about the Spider-Man reboot is the untold story of Peter Parker's parents. We haven't heard much about what kind of new information we will find out about them in the second film, or if they will play any type of roll moving forward.
Some of these questions still remain because of the ending during the first movie. A shadow figure appearing in Curt Connors jail cell asking him if he told Peter the truth about his parents. Who was the figure? And what truth? Will we find any of that out in the second movie?
There are a few theories as to how they can move forward with this. Was that shadow figure Eddie Brock Sr? If so that all makes perfect sense. At the beginning of the first movie we seen Peter's father working with spiders. Did he create a bio genetic suit? Did Eddie Brock Sr. put that suit on, and kill them on the plane?
More photos from the set of Spider-Man shows that there will be a plane scene. Is this where we see what happens? And if so does that mean we could also see Venom in Spider-Man 3 or 4?
Another production photo shows a strange image of a locker or a drawer with the number 14 on it. It strangely resembles a certain locker from the Ultimate-Spider-Man comics that the Venom symbiote is found in. Fans speculate that it is indeed the Venom symbiote, while other say it is the goblin serum. If the description of the goblin is true, it's likely not going to be goblin serum, so is this in fact where we will see the first tease of Venom?
Other fans think that this may be a drawer in the morgue, teasing the death of Gwen Stacey or Norman Osborn.
As of right now, no official trailer has been released, but during the San Diego comic con this year, the trailer was shown during the Spider-Man panel, and many fans recorded it. While bad quality the trailer was watchable but was quickly taken down by Sony. All attempts to re-upload the footage will probably be taken down as quickly as it's put back up, but i'm sure a few Google searches could solve your problem. One of the biggest things about the trailer, was it spoiler of how Max Dillion's Electro transformation happens.
SPOILER ALERT - Dillion falls into a tank of electric eels.
So, what do you think of Spider-Man's future on the big screen? More importantly how do you think the sequel will do?
