Sherlock detecting criminals in Star Wars Episode VII?

By: James Bowler

Benedict Cumberbatch, even his name is freaking awesome.

Despite the trolling that will no doubt follow from this statement, he truly is one of the most diverse and amazing actors I have ever had the pleasure of watching on the big and small screen.

I know, I know some of you are already bitching, 'what about Star Trek 2?'

This comes down to the Ben Affleck/Daredevil situation again, the actors only act, and yes sometimes they are terrible and they are the reason the film bombs.

But he majority of the time it is because of the writers and the director. In the case of Ben Affleck I actually believe that Daredevil was a failure primarily because of the script and the director.

In the case of Star Trek 2, again, a mash-up of events including denying that Khan would be the villain, plus some bad writing, and a way to fast build up of Cumberbatch's version of Khan led to a lot of negative reviews in the film.

Cumberbatch as a Jedi or even possibly a Sith Lord? If you've seen Sherlock you would believe that, that would be completely epic.

He has a way of playing a character who believes he is above everyone else in intelligence and integrity. He was perfect for Sherlock, he would have been perfect for Khan had the writing been better, and I think he'll be perfect for Star Wars Episode VII if this rumor is true and Abrams doesn't botch it up again.

Well as we reported, the filming of season three of Sherlock has wrapped so will leave his schedule open.

Bleeding Cool, which originally broke the casting rumor, also reports that Cumberbatch recently dropped out of Guilermo del Toro's Crimson Peak, because of a scheduling conflict.

Could this be because he is set to start filming in the new Star Wars continuation? Well according to the report we should be finding out very soon, via a huge casting announcement which is expected.

Maybe we'll finally get some other rumors put to bed on the casting of the film as well.

Until then I strongly suggest you check out the British network ITV's Sherlock, which can be found on Netflix.
