Ravenswood: A Curse Will Fall, Ratings Will Rise

By: Ami Intrator

For those who rejoice in the spooky and mysterious atmosphere that comes every October, there is yet another reason to celebrate.

The insanely popular show Pretty Little Liars, which is now in its fourth season and has a fan-base breaking social media records, has earned a spin-off that is taking eerie to new levels.

The already highly anticipated Ravenswood is sheathed with mystery, but despite the cryptic promo and limited details that have been released viewers may be able to guess at a lot of what is to come in this show.

Creator of the Pretty Little Liars series, I. Marlene King, is big on foreshadowing, and avid PLL fans have already been able to collect several details as to what is in store for the creepy town of Ravenswood.

In the latest season of PLL the characters paid a couple visits to Ravenswood, and its safe to say “Toto we’re not in Rosewood anymore!”

While Rosewood is a small town that reeks of normality despite all the craziness that is occurring in the character’s lives, Ravenswood is anything but normal. When the little liars visited the town the mood became dreary and almost dream-like. The town features a graveyard, statues, and people with statue-esque faces.

Ravenswood will become a show of its own and home to one of the Rosewood regulars.

This mystery-thriller is based around a curse that falls and forces five strangers to come together to piece together the strange happenings.

Caleb Rivers (played by Tyler Blackburn) is one of the main hooks the show has going for it, as this fictional heartthrob from Pretty Little Liars is leaving his Rosewood sweetheart to join Ravenswood curse-solvers!

The recent trailer that was released shows the five characters the show is based around running towards a graveyard, summoned by falling raven feathers, to the spook-tastic Civil War’s song The One That Got Away.

The trailer doesn’t give away much, but it sets the mood for a mystery that is sure to go places Pretty Little Liars never has.

After watching four girls be traumatized by a very real force for years, watching a show with a supernatural aspect will be refreshing if not original.

PLL fans everywhere ought to brace themselves for a mystery without -A at the center, but if PLL has taught you anything you’ll know to expect the unexpected.

The show is set to air October 22, 2013 on the same day the PLL Halloween episode airs.
