Well the little town of Beacon Hills had quite an eventful time this summer, with new visitors, some new friends and relationships really taking some strange turns.
Of course I’m talking about Teen Wolf, which has just wrapped up season 3...A (oh you better believe there’s a B).
Now if you haven’t seen the show, I highly suggest it, you’ll find no gimmicky, basketball playing, horny teen wolves here (actually they play lacrosse).
But if you haven’t seen it or you missed the finale on Monday night, I would suggest moving on because there are some major spoilers ahead.
Of course many hoped that the beloved Colton Haynes would return as the blue-eyed beta-hunk Jackson, but this was not meant to be, as Haynes is now working on the set of Arrow.
However he was traded up for two pieces of eye-candy for the ladies, and don’t worry gentlemen we had just as much luck too (I mean we all know that’s Lydia’s quite buxom torso in the intro, nerdgasm).
So as Scott and the gang were starting to recover from some very ugly battles with some kind of lizard-creature that was being controlled by a guy obsessed with Allison Argent, some new big bads walked into town.
But the big difference here was while we thought we knew who the real enemy was, well, as producer Jeff Davis has shown us before, we don’t know diddly.
As a group of alphas, bent on supposedly pulling Derek into the fold, began wreaking havoc on the tight-knit clan, something new and pretty freaking messed up began to pick off innocent members of the town; starting with Stiles childhood love, (awww, oh wait she was strangled and then had her throat cut, can Stiles NEVER catch a break?)
So we are now left to wonder is this the work of said evil Alphas, or is something new and even more terrifying making its presence known? (A little from column A and a LOT from column B).
After a few rambunctious battles between Scott’s ‘scooby-gang’ and the evil were-wolves, we meet Miss Jennifer Blake, innocent helpless teacher who must be saved by big strong Derek. However Miss Blake has a darker side (and it looks like it came straight out of a Hellraiser movie).
We learn all about Druids (yes the Scottish kind), who help wolf packs and how there is something called a Darach, which is like the evil version of a Druid.
A whole bunch of Druid/Werewolf bromance history is revealed which is a lot of blah blah blah to get into.
So Blakey-poo turns out to be a Darach, turned that way by Deucallion, who is the Alpha Pack’s Alpha leader (confused yet, just wait).
Basically he ordered one of his alpha minions to kill her blah blah blah bromances fall apart (bro you spilled beer on my epic upturned collar shirt that gets all the ladies!).
The minion couldn’t go through will fully killing her and decided completely mutilating her face was basically enough to screw with her.
So she used magic evil druid powers to make her face look all pretty and then went around sacrificing people (and possibly babies...and the elderly) to feed some druid tree that feeds off of death (as well as puppies and rainbows). She’s hoping to gather enough power to fight Deucallion who we find out is some epic mega demon wolf (and gets little to no screen time in that form dagnabbit!)
Epic battles happen, Stiles dad FINALLY is let in on the big secret and Allison’s father comes to terms with the fact that his daughter is bffs with what he used to fight and he joins the super duper were wolf squad.
We also learn that Deucallion was never in the mess he climbed into with Beacon Hills for Derek, but to bring Scott into his gang of baddies. Scott is apparently becoming an Alpha through magic goodness powers, he never killed anyone so that makes him super strong.
So the final moments come down to Jennifer kidnapping Scott’s Mom, Stiles Dad, and Allison’s father, which of course makes them all mad and have to deal with feelings and stuff.
For some reason the three of them have to die in order to find out where their parents are being held (a scene that literally lasted all of 5 minutes) but this leads to them all having a ring of darkness around their hearts and also creating an open-door policy for anything big and nasty, that also feeds on puppies and rainbows, to come waltzing into Beacon Hills.
They discover their parents, more epic battles, and then Jennifer is killed because she was really just freaking us all out with that actual face (seriously I had nightmares).
In the end it’s revealed that Peter Hale, Derek’s Uncle (yeah that guy that tried to kill everyone in the first season), is actually evil (shocker).
Oh and Lydia is a Banshee (yes Scotland) but that’s not really explored any further, Derek turns back into a Beta to save his sister, Allison and Isaac begin some kind of weird relationship, and Scott’s father is actually an FBI agent who comes into town to investigate the murders.
Did we cover everything? Good.
Despite my quips I actually enjoyed a lot of what this season had to offer.
There were many episodes that really explored the inner workings of a lot of the characters.
Probably my most favourite would have been Visionary, where Derek and Deucallion’s pasts are told from two former antagonists to Stiles and Scott. This involves a love story and some harsh bromance fights.
This season actually freaked me out in a few episodes too. I joke about nightmares but honestly I had the lights on a few times, there was definitely a creepy paranormal element added to everything.
And despite the loss of Colton Haynes (who is said to be training his Beta powers elsewhere) new characters added into the fold fill his void and add their own rich charisma to the show, including more profiling of Isaac.
I also liked the tease of a possible future between Lydia and Stiles, something I’m sure many fans have been foaming at the mouth for, for quite a while. And it was a little unexpected seeing as Lydia gets involved with one of the big bad Alphas (who eventually turns good because of sex and yeah, have you seen her boobs?).
I actually hope that Lydia and Stiles finally hook up, especially after that awkward kiss they shared where it looked like Lydia was actually using Banshee powers to try and engulf his face with her mouth.
Seriously though, with the screaming? It’s not like it was already bad enough but now it’s like her signature thing.
So after the big season 3 (part one) marathon Monday MTV teased loyal fans with an exclusive preview of Teen Wolf Season 3B.
The scene was a heavy make-out session between Allison and Isaac, but then her dead aunt shows up trying to strangle Isaac while Allison herself is holding a knife to stab him.
She wakes up next to a sleeping Lydia realizing it was all a dream but then she discovers the knife under her back (wouldn’t that hurt to sleep on?).
So what could this mean?
Is Allison going back to her wicked, wicked ways of killing wolfies, or is something else surfacing?
We’ll just have to wait, but luckily not as long as an entire three freaking yearly seasons because Teen Wolf is returning in January for part two of season 3.
Keep with Geeks By Day for all your Teen Wolf updates!
And check out a choppy version of the preview.
